Las Vegas police were investigating a fatal crash Monday morning in the east valley.

The crash happened just after 8:20 a.m. near Lake Mead Boulevard and Mount Hood Street involving a tractor-trailer and another vehicle, police said. Evidence at the scene and witness statements show that a 2014 Nissan Versa failed to stop and then crashed into the back of the stopped tractor-trailer.

The Nissan’s driver was taken to University Medical Center where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

The Clark County coroner will release the deceased’s identity once his family has been notified.

This is the 51st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2016.
