Fire damages businesses at Sunset, Stephanie in Henderson
The Henderson and Clark County fire departments responded to a fire near the Galleria at Sunset mall Tuesday morning.
The departments received the call about 5:10 a.m. from a passer-by who saw smoke coming from the top of a strip mall at 1405 W. Sunset Road near Stephanie Street, Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.
Firefighters found a fire in the overhang and roof area of the Port of Subs and Las Vegas Jewelry and Coin Buyers, which were closed at the time of the fire. The other business at that address, Einstein Bros Bagels, was safely evacuated, Richards said.
The eastbound lanes of Sunset Road have reopened, according to the Regional Transportation Commission.
The cause was determined to be an accidental electrical fire, and the estimated loss is $150,000.
