Football games of the week — Week 7
August 16, 2016 - 5:27 pm
THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GAME
Boulder City at Chaparral — Chaparral, which will be seeking its third consecutive playoff appearance, finished as the Sunrise Region’s No. 2 seed last season and the Cowboys probably will be near the top again this year.
Boulder City won just one game last season and lost to Chaparral 65-7. That margin should be much closer in this one.
Look for Cowboys wideout Kentrell Petite (29 catches, 586 yards and six touchdowns) to find the end zone once or twice.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Arbor View at Centennial — The Northwest game of the year.
This matchup could determine the winner of the league, and ultimately delay a game with Bishop Gorman until the Sunset Region championship.
It will be Arbor View defensive lineman Greg Rogers’ first game back at his old school, which means things could get ugly for Centennial quarterback Jamaal Evans and his offensive line if Rogers has his way.
Expect a heavy dose of running back Deago Stubbs (779 yards rushing and five TDs) from Arbor View.
Centennial’s Kayvon Miller (665 yards rushing, 300 yards receiving and 10 total TDs) and Savon Scarver (896 yards receiving and 11 TDs) will be the spark plugs on offense for the Bulldogs.
Centennial has home-field advantage and will be looking to avenge a 17-14 loss to the Aggies last season.
