Poll: Many don’t back legalization of brothels, hash bars for tourism

A new Review-Journal/8NewsNow poll found a strong majority of Nevadans against legalizing marijuana and prostitution to boost tourism. On the pot question, 79 percent of respondents gave the thumbs-down to Dutch-style hashish and marijuana bars in Las Vegas. Residents weighing in against brothels in Clark County proved even more overwhelming, with 64 percent of participants registering disapproval.

The gunman who late Saturday fatally shot five people and wounded a sixth before fleeing to California and committing suicide had been recently arrested for violating a protective order directing him to stay away from one of the victims, his estranged girlfriend and the mother of his two children, Lake Havasu City police said.

Six reported dead in Lake Havasu shooting

Police in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. report six people are dead after a late Saturday night shooting followed by the death of the gunman who took his own life early Sunday in California. Sergeant Joe Harrold said investigators believe that 26-year-old Brian Diez opened fire shortly after 11:00 p.m. after entering a home in the 300 block of Opossum Drive.
