Centennial Hills church turns 16-theater cineplex into event center

Construction dust is cleared, for now, at the new Truth Christian Ministries International worship center, but some spiritual building is planned this weekend. The church is planning the Impact Youth Conference for Thursday through Saturday at 5101 N. Rainbow Blvd. The conference will be one of the first major events hosted in the center’s new building, also dubbed the TCMI Christian Event Center, a 62,000-square-foot space originally home to the Rancho Santa Fe Movie Theater.

Acting on complaints from Sunrise Manor Township residents and firefighters at the newly opened Fire Station No. 20 at 5865 Judson Ave., Clark County pest control specialists examined clouds of chironomid midges that were originally mistaken for mosquitoes. The insects, also referred to as non-biting midges, were traced to their breeding ground, the Sloan Channel, just downstream from the newly operational North Las Vegas Water Treatment Facility.

The parade route runs from Ocean Avenue to Atlantic Avenue.

Henderson, Project GREEN take a walk on the wash

In the 105 degree heat, Henderson city officials and members of Project Green Valley Ecology, Environment and Nature treaded along Pittman Wash Trail, discussing the current problems and potential solutions. The Aug. 4 walk was the third time in a week that the entities had connected to try to find common ground about how to treat the erosion problem at the bottom of the wash.
