For the second consecutive general election, the eyes of the nation are on Nevada. In 2008, Nevada was among the swing states in the presidential election. In 2010, the fate of the U.S. Senate majority leader hangs in the balance.
Saturday’s opening day of early voting went relatively smoothly, election officials said. Larry Lomax, Registrar of Voters, said 17,000 to 18,000 people voted throughout Clark County on Saturday. Those figures fall short of the 2008 presidential election, in which 25,000 cast early ballots.
